There was no shortage of space when it came to building this private gym and spa by Lake Zurich. Nevertheless, the client opted for a compact combined sauna and steam bath. Together with the adjacent gym, they now form a concentrated relaxation zone – without any distracting details.
Focusing on the essentials
The tone is set by the anthracite-grey Vals quartzite lining the room. To avoid being too monotone, different-shaped floor and wall panels add variety: large cubes interspersed with narrow rectangles. Bright white plastered walls and ceilings and powerful LED spotlights provide an amiable mood. The generous use of natural stone and glass create a minimalist, clear atmosphere in this private spa. The near-knotless polar pine sauna benches and ceiling provide a warm counterpart and create a cosy ambience. The real eye-catcher inside the sauna, however, is the highly polished CNS heater. On the outside: the huge flat-screen TV.
